5 Terre Unesco World Heritage Site
The Tuscan shore is just 30 kilometers from Lucca. Lovely, flat roads along the coastline from Viareggio to Forte dei Marmi are crowded with cyclists every season of the year.

 

After one hour of easy cycling on the flat, lovely coastline road from Viareggio to Bocca di Magra you will pass the border betwen Tuscany and Liguria entering La Spezia province, climbing the wonderful and quite hills dotted with so many charming fishermen villages: Ameglia, Montemarcello, Lerici, Portovenere and the 5 Terre (five villages). Portovenere, the 5 Terre and the 3 islands (Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto) are included within a site listed as UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE: 15 Kms stretching along the stunning coast, showing how the impact of human activity transformed the steep slopes into lovely vineyards and olive groves. This is a MUST TO DO for every tourist spending a holiday in Italy.
